PIckled Tink for HYCCT!

I was so honored when Lisa Lara, the newest member of the Splitcoast Dirty Dozen, asked me to make a sample for her Hope You Can Cling To Pickled Tink challenge, that of course I would have said "yes" no matter what the challenge.  The fact that the challenge was to make a punny CAS card (with a touch of pink) just sweetened the deal!  I started going through my stamp index, thinking maybe a bra card or a "hang in there" pun, when I came to Eat Cake Graphics's Marmie Decides to Leave, which led to the perfect card to sum up my feelings about cancer:
I printed the sentiment onto Soft Stone cardstock, stamped and colored Miss Marmie, then added a strip of Echo Park Dots & Stripes paper.  I do hope you'll play along in the challenge, or any of the HYCCT challenges!

I've been falling behind on my book reports (and blog posts), so here's some more catch up....

Book #39: Just my Type was another birthday gift.  It is a book about fonts, which sort of made me giddy.  A review blurb on the Omnivoracious blog said it made him change the way he looks at words...ok, I think that's taking it a bit too far.  I will say it made me appreciate Comic Sans just a wee, little, tiny bit (I still don't think it should be on high school i.d. badges, but no one asked me for graphic design input on those).  I'd say this would be a library loan: fun and entertaining to read, but no need to keep it on your bookshelf.  Amazon Link.

Book #40: I had recently read The First Husband and enjoyed it, so I tried The Divorce Party by the same author, which didn't really have the same punch as Husband.  Probably another library loan book.  Amazon Link.

Book #41: This was the most recent book I've been reading to Mr Corgi as he drives.  Although a short book, I must admit it was extremely fascinating and we both have a hankering to go see the H1, H2, H3, and H4 in England.  Well written and researched, I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys a bit of science or history.

What are you reading?  I have some of your recent suggestions on my wish list at the library...someone else must have read your comments and scooped them up first!  I must be quicker this time.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see some of your cards in the HYCCT gallery!

LOL!!!!!!!!! This is a terrific card!!!!!!! OMG!

I've gotta ask - do you just wing it when you print the sentiment directly on the card, or does it come out exactly where you want it? I'm not the best at figuring out 'where' to place the sentiment in my document in order to print on a piece of cardstock.

I just ordered Jen Lancaster books. Was told they are hilarious. I'm waiting till vacation to start them though!

So you already know I love that particular stamp, but this may be the perfect way to use it. And it's always nice to see a cat-butt card on the corgi blog. :P
Okay, I realize this makes my geek side more obvious, but I started Robopocalypse By Daniel H. Wilson, and I have to say, it's a lot of action-packed, when the machines take over the world fun!

So I burst out laughing as soon as I saw this card which jolted my hounds from their doggie dreams and send them tearing out the door barking their fool heads off! LOL! That is one fabulous card, Meg.

As for books, I'm catching up on old titles I've had sitting around here for ages - "The Memory Keeper's Daughter" which was decent read and Michael Connelly's first book "The Black Echo" which I devoured in 24 hours. I'll be starting his second book tonight!

ROFLOL!!!...... why am I not surprised to see this card on your blog!!!!hehe :)

I think you've taken the 'pun sentiment' a step further. Love the light-hearted style for such an awful subject :)

That card is genius, Meg. You are brilliant. 'Nuff said!!

Gotta say that Comic Sans is just not my fave. I hate seeing it being used on school worksheets/notices. HS ID badges? Seriously? Who was on watch during that decision?? Yup, obviously not *you*!! Looks like an interesting book--I'll have to keep an eye out for it. :)

What a hoot! The best-use-of-cat-butt award goes to you! Ha.

Ooh, that type book has me intrigued, though I don't think I could ever be convinced to appreciate Comic Sans. Ever. Ew.

I'm reading Maus for the twenty-bazillionth time (I teach it every year because I love it), so if you haven't read that one yet, hie thee to the graphic novel/Judaica section!

*love this*
My dear friend was just diagnosed with terminal bone cancer, and cancer can really kiss my ass right now. Well, anytime, I guess, but I'm feeling it pretty hard.
Right now I'm reading the newest Chris Bohjalian book (Midwives), called The Night Strangers. Not far enough into it to have an opinion, but I have yet to dislike any of his books. Otherwise I haven't remembered anything I've read in the last week and a half. Just lots of staring at the page :(

LOL, this IS the perfect card for that challenge! There's no need to say more because it's just that good.

I haven't found a book to read yet, probably because I'm thinking of getting an eReader. ;)

The card is AWESOME! Where do you come up with these ideas? You are so clever.

I've been reading "Epic" followed by some title related to extreme mountain climbing. Great book so far...very introspective and since the book is a collection of essays, you can read it in chunks. (that's a good thing to me!)
