Ok, ok, for all you grammar sticklers out there, the technically correct plural of corgi is "corgwn" (pronounced cor-goon). But wikitionary says "corgis" is more common so I'm sticking with it.
We just had a new Mexican restaurant, Chuy's, open in Birmingham. As some of you Texans may know, each restaurant has a distinct decorating scheme. Ours is offering a free appetizer for anyone bringing in a framed picture of their dog for the wall. Of course I couldn't let Addison have an undecorated frame! (Yes, some people in my household called me a dork for doing this, but you know, whatev.)
I used some October Afternoon Fly a Kite paper. I just traced the frame and cut it out. The polka dots were the perfect number/size to use some letter stickers I've had forever. And then my new SU jewelry tag punch was out on my desk, just begging me to use it, so I printed "corgis" and "chuy's" onto PTI Rustic White and punched out, then punched a heart from PTI Berry Sorbert.
And how much do you LOVE this flower? And the color combination, which I drew from the stickers? I cut Nestability blossoms from Baja Breeze, Berry Sorbert (x2), Old Olive, and Soft Suede. I used PTI Polka Dot Basics II in Memento Rich Cocoa, stamped off once onto scratch paper first. The button is from my button stash, tied with some linen thread.
I also tried stretching out of my comfort zone yesterday by making a vintage-y card for this week's Mojo Monday sketch.
I stamped Elements of Style onto some Riding Hood Red patterned paper and embossed with white. I then rubbed some So Sahara ink over it to tone it down. I punched out 1 inch squares, matted with 1 1/8 inch black squares. I inked the fancy ledger from Notably Ornate with Memento Rhubarb, then added some Tuxedo Black to the edges, stamped, and cut out. The sentiment is from PTI's Delightful Dahlia, the background paper is from SU Love Letters.
Now I'm off to play some Dare to Get Dirty challenges and, of course, eat some Chuy's. So you can be honest, how big of a dork am I for making that frame?!? :) Hope everyone has an enjoyable weekend!

Meg, you are so NOT a dork. Or if you are, it's in the best way possible :)
I bet Addison loves the frame - and his new-found fame!
Oh, and I was just playing with Notably Ornate this morning - I like what you've done with it!
That frame is AWESOME! (And I want one of those restaraunts in our town so I can put up a pic of OUR furbaby! How sweet! Your card is so elegant. I am really enjoying seeing all of your creations Meg!
OK, the BIG question is what appetizer did you get free for delivering the frame?? (Or maybe you didn't take it in yet). So, give us an update soon! And *some* people in your household would be wrong for calling you a dork for making that frame. It's going to be the best--and most looked at frame--on the wall. Addison will be a star, people will flock to Chuy's to see it, and you will get free appetizers for life. See?? Anyway, LOVE it, completely. Have been thinking that I might want that new SU jewelry tag punch. Now I know for sure!! Anyway, loved your story. Great post :)
Out of your comfort zone? Well you do "out of your comfort zone" REALLY WELL. oh this is beautiful Meg. And I love Addison's frame. Did you enjoy your appetizer? Just wanted to let you know I have blog candy on my blog and today is the last day if you would like to enter:http://lisaslifelines.blogspot.com/2010/06/tweet-blog-candy.html
I thought of you because it is a really cute stamp set.
I bet Addison feels like a MOVIE STAR on Chuy's wall! :D That is such a sweet picture and I love how you decorated the frame with her name on top, the little tabs to say she loves Chuy's and that gorgeous flower. Your dotted flowers are the best! I'm going to try those with the different sized dots! ;)
P.S. I really love your vintage card, too! You make me want that set...
What a great framed pic of Addison! She'll be the HIT of that wall! What a great idea by that restaurant too :)
Your vintage card came out awesome as well!!!
Nice work :)

I don't think you are a dork. I love the frame. Of course it had to be decorated. (Your corgi is adorable)
Great vintage card. Congrats on stepping out of your comfort zone.
Sorry to be behind in blog comments. I have been on vacation all week but am trying to get caught up.
Have a great week end.
